About
Find your way back to the beginning.
Description
"Pure, we rise to the heavens and greet the sun.
Toxic, we flow down mountains, in rivers we run.
Lost, we sink to ocean depths.
Lost, we find a deeper breath.
Adrift in this colorless cold,
We sleep in a darkness, a darkness below.
In the abyss of these bent waters,
We must pull ourselves from the muck and the mire.
We must cleanse this PoorWater."
Biography
Devin, James, Lauren, and Rock met as members of a previous band in 2008. After that band dissolved, their close friendships and shared musical vision brought them together into a new band, PoorWater, in 2010. The band was not complete until James’ cousin, Nate, joined on the bass.

The members of PoorWater have used their diverse music experiences in rock and classical music to create their own unique form of dark-progressive rock. They strive to push the boundaries of music at all times to create a new sound in the Arizona music scene. PoorWater released their first full-length album, Harvesting Habits, in December 2011.

About
Melting faces
Biography
Weed out the Weak is a vibrant and dynamic trio from Mesa, AZ who formed in August of 2007. Their music ranges from the mellowest of blues to blistering speed metal. Kara Klassen, an Arizona native, is the guitarist and lead vocalist. She has often been compared to Melissa Etheridge. Ben Ferguson, from the hills of Arkansas (we’re lucky he wears shoes), rocks a 6-string bass, and has been compared to Les Claypool of Primus. Roc Smith, the drummer from Cincinnati, OH (where a 3-way is a food reference), is heavily influenced by Metallica. However, she plays a wide spectrum of styles, including jazz and punk. They have something for everyone, and can shape their set-list to fit any event.

“Weed out the Weak ... !! ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE !! A diverse fusion of PUNK, ROCK, REGGAE, and RAP ... A blend that many may do, but can't do as well. “ - Willis Day Jr.

Biography
Bound by blood, two sets of teenage brothers are delivering a level of electrifying talent to the world of metal that would be uncommon for any age group. With the release of their debut album Living A Sick Dream, Age Of Evil is ready to unleash their angst, brutality and metal upon the world. Combining their own fresh exciting new twist with old school metal, Age Of Evil is already recognized for a sound that rivals the majestic madness of national metal bands.
With shredding guitar solos, intense vocals, driving drum beats, and thundering bass, AOE is determined to reach the top and stand the test of time. Prepare yourself to be blown away by the future of heavy metal.

Age Of Evil

"Despite the fact that the guys in Age of Evil were not even born when old school metal peaked, they seem to have an extremely firm grasp on it-even more than some of the actual veterans of the genre who are still playing it. Because of that, they have the "new/old school" sound down to a science and have considerably upped the ante for metal of the future..."

About
Melodic, Aggressive, Infectious
Biography
"The guitars are heavy and chugging enough to carry the sound, and the drumming, while not all that technical or deep, still interplays well with the vocals, and the duo creates Sinshrift’s hardcore dynamic. The vocals are strong, yet still somewhat versatile, adding to the greater whole of this band’s sound."

"I felt compelled to write about this band because they really do hearken back to the days before hardcore music became so blatantly commercial, and they really remind of a band I would have been in love with when I first got into heavier music. Sounding like something of a cross between Vision of Disorder meets modern day Remembering Never, with touches of Bury Your Dead and even Lamb of God. Melodic, Aggressive, Infectious... Sinshrift employs the necessary tools to have a successful sound without becoming cliché and compromised. "

Biography
It started with the foundation. Ryan Patrick (Bass), Sam Murphy (guitar) and Mikey Lee (drums), three seasoned players coming together with one goal; to create a female-fronted metal band that could NOT be ignored. But who would be the front woman who could deliver the goods? Enter singer/screamer Nikki Brutal. On the heels of a ear-splitting howl unleashed at her first audition, Top Dead Center was born, and the Phoenix music scene would never be the same.

Alternately described as "a female-fronted Seether", and "if Halestorm, All That Remains, and Motley Crue had a drunken three-way and had a baby", Top Dead Center seemlessly blends old school songwriting with modern aesthetics to create a fresh new sound. Each member contributes a unique presence and style rarely seen in today's "nameless/faceless" metal bands. Uncensored, slightly sleazy, and dripping with attitude, TDC burst upon the Southwest club circuit and quickly earned a dedicated and loyal local following, packing clubs by word-of-mouth as news of their frenetic live shows quickly spread. In that time, TDC has shared the stage with national acts such as Bang Tango, Otto's Daughter, Ember, and Dizzy Reed (Guns and Roses).

Now ready to bring their unique sound nationwide, Top Dead Center released thier full-length debut album "Living The Scream" on September 24, 2011. Two years in the making, this album was produced by nationally accredited producer Michael Beck.

THIS is the band that is going to have people talking.

NEXT SHOW: Sat, December 17 - Comerica Theatre (Phoenix, AZ) - Alice Cooper's Christmas Pudding 2011
Biography
From the dusty sand of the Arizona desert has risen a band with songs, style, and attitude unseen since days when rock n’ roll ruled the airwaves. Combining the classic rock of Zeppelin, the Stones, and Queen with harder-edged influences like Metallica, Suite 88 has sculpted its own unique sound within the realm of heavy guitar rock.

With its latest release Unsigned, Suite 88 delivers a sonic miscellany that plays like a mixtape of rock heavyweights. From the aggressive, Pantera-esque breakdown of “Bring It On” to the Clapton-tinged blues ballad “Tell Me It’s Over”, the album delivers on many levels and showcases remarkable versatility for such young musicians. Band members, each born in ’88, consist of frontman Mike Gunns, guitarist Kolton Lee, bassist Vic Toon, and drummer Jesse Clutch.

The group’s music and video have been featured on the NBC show Parenthood, and the 2010 North American Tour saw the band perform for audiences all the way up the west coast of the United States and into Canada. With another west coast tour currently in the works, the band is well-poised to work its way out of being Unsigned.

Description
Progressive-ish, ass-kicking, female-fronted rock awesomeness band from Tempe, AZ
Biography
Frequis is a five piece rock band from Phoenix, AZ. Their
dark and sludgy sounds are reminiscent of grunge, metal and progressive rock, but the distinctive Frequis sound comes to life thru the use of noise, a powerful voice, a relentlessly driving rhythm section, dynamic guitar solos, and high octane live performances. Frequis has influences ranging from 90's grunge such as Alice and Chains, Soundgarden and Nirvana to more progressive bands such as Dream Theater and Pink Floyd. The result is a bold new sound unlike anything you have heard before: dynamic songwriting containing soulful yet catchy melodies while still maintaing the fierceness and power of metal. Providing the fresh new face and voice to the band is singer/lyricist Cassie Aguiar, who fuses her operatically refined vocal prowess with a surge of post-metal screaming to command and captivate her audiences. The sound is complemented by the melodic, bluesy, yet tastefully technical lead guitar work of Chris Nastri. Brian Morris completes the Frequis sound with his clean, responsive playing and excellent sense of music and progression. Jared Johnson adds exciting melodic bass lines that bring skillful bass playing back to rock music, and underneath it all is Pete Czapiga's creative drum style which combines technical progressive drum beats with tribal melodic rhythms. Frequis hopes to bring creativity and risk back to the stale commercial rock scene that still lingers on.

About
Debut Album, "Misanthropic Slaughter" is now on sale!! www.misanthropicslaughter.com
Biography
Who are they?

Hemoptysis is the unrelenting curse of the Sonoran Desert sun. Made up of a diverse group of musicians that have created a sound not heard since the birth of Thrash Metal decades ago. Often imitated but never duplication, Hemoptysis is the true embodiment of the re-birth of American Thrash Metal.

From the ashes of the sun scorched earth; the Arizona desert has unleashed an entity, wielding a sound that can only come from a band that, like their surroundings, lives by only one law: survival of the fittest. Every emotion, note, lyric and breath they emit come from the essence of the wasteland that most call hell, but they call home. The unrelenting sun turns flora to ash by day, only to give way to frigid nights replete with promises of hypothermia; this is where you will find Hemoptysis. Each song delivers a unique expression of emotion that each fan connects with in their own way. Hemoptysis mix elements of Heavy Metal, Thrash, Death and Black Metal into a style that can only come from those that contend daily with an environment of hostility and hopelessness. There's no red carpet here, no Hollywood to magically green-screen you away from harm. In the desert you will find no hope or salvation except the one you create yourself. If you had to classify their music by genre then put them in their own. Desert Core. Riding high off the release of their 5 song EP, "Who Needs A Shepherd?", Hemoptysis appear poised to conquer the Metal realm. The band continues to receive both internet and terrestrial radio airplay, garnering plenty of media attention, and have been dubbed the 2009 and 2010, 'METAL ARTIST OF THE YEAR' by The Phoenix Music Awards.

Who or what do they sound like and what sets them apart?

To compare them to any other band would be an injustice to the originality of their music. Hemoptysis start where other "Original Thrash Metal" bands leave off. They use Thrash Metal as a foundation, mix in the emotions of the desert and in so doing, move the entire genre forward in a way only they can. Whether it's Masaki's uncompromising vocals, Travis' thunderous drums, the monsoon of Ryan's solos or the heart stopping bass of Sunao, Hemoptysis will leave you breathless.
